Zimbabwe Triangular Series

I am writing this Just before the 2nd round matches getting started.

According to the current points, SriLanka is at the top, with the one marginal win over Zimbabwe, followed by India and Zimbabwe at the bottom. Zimbabwe had beaten India and India had beaten SriLanka early in this tournament. It was a nice effort from Zimbabweans against India but not with SriLanka. It is obvious that the Indian team in Zimbabwe is a dump team compared to the regular or 2011 WC Indian first XI. Only one or two players playing in this series who consistently represents Indian first XI. SriLanka is also playing with some big names out but they badly need to select some new faces to the team which meets the WC challenge.

The past three matches states that Zimbabwe has a very little chance to win the Macromedia trophy against these Strong Cricket playing nations. Even though they have won a game against India, the loss against SriLanka and the way they lost the game tells us a lot about their cricket. That win over India in the opening game would be the only win for them in the series, if they continue doing mistakes as they have done with SriLanka. Zimbabweans' bowling attack seemed weak in that match against SriLanka. They didn't perform well with the bat as well. But the way they bowled to SriLanka batsmen says that they don't have much disciplined bowlers. Simply if you see spinners bowling, they do pitching short and wide consistently. They wasn't stop spinning in the first 10 overs, even after when they have seen Tharanga felt easy to play spinners and smashes the ball to the boundary consistently. That was a bad move by the African captain.

Apart from those mistakes by the Zimbabwe team, Tharanga looked really good with the bat at his favorite slot as an opener. But he seems bit struggling with the chemistry with Dilshan as his partner. They had very little understanding in running between the wickets. Generally Dilshan is quick runner and when he faces the ball the runner should be ready to respond his calling little too quick. But both past matches shows that Tharanga the man made the wrong call and get punished himself. I don't see this Dilshan-Tharanga Run out issue as a simple matter to neglect. It is not that much easy to get rid of that problem quickly. They need to have some different ways of training since they have some personnel issues with them. Apart from that, the SriLankan bowling attack remains the same as usual. They missed Malinga and Murali. So only a four men t o comes in.

India is really an A team in Africa. So they are just having a fun or a testing series in Zimbabwe. And they failed in the first testing and successes in the second testing with SriLanka. This really says a lot of stories.

SriLanka couldn't make that game with India. They have given chances to many batsmen to show their talents ahead of the 2011 WC. Chamara Silva again got out in the same passion as he used to-One Boundary and some dot balls and out-. Kapugedara the man whom is expected to perform a lot by SriLanka but he was as usual. He slammed and made one match dramatically for SriLanka in the recent past days in WC-T20. But Seems SriLanka had paid a lot for him for a game like that. And in that match, Kapugedara himself turned the match too tight towards the end and again he himself played a magical innings to make it up. So that Man-Of-The match award also wasn't given to him. And that was a message from the cricket experts to SriLanka cricket. Defending too many deliveries for no reason and got out all of a sudden. So he has to work a lot within a short period. He can see his senior Samaraweera playing and try to catch him up in a way. Samaraweera was a slow scorer and he changed that name and now into the one day squad because of his hard work-He mentioned it in one game-

Mathews, Pereira, Randive are some treasuries for SriLanka after a long time.

SriLanka has to work hard with India to get this trophy. And their test-in players has to put their standards little higher and perform for SriLanka to set a hope for the WC.
